This Aska Farming Guide will tell you how to get started Farming, how field Add-Ons work, and which crops you can grow on your Farm.
As your Settlement grows, you'll find that simply gathering forageables is not enough to keep everyone well-fed in Aska. You'll eventually have to turn to farming to provide the food your villagers need — keep reading to learn everything you need to know about farming!
How to Farm in Aska
Unsurprisingly, you can farm in Aska by building a Farm. First, you'll need to place the following buildings first as prerequisites, in this order:
- Build Campfire
- Upgrade Simple Fire to Campfire
- Build Shelter
- Build The Eye of Odin
- Build Stonecutter's Pit
- Build Woodcutter's Pit
- Build Workshop Pit
- Build Gatherer's Pit
- Upgrade Gatherer's Pit to Gatherer's Hut
Additionally, you'll need to craft a Large Stone Axe at the Workshop Pit to get logs for the Farm.
Once the Farm is built, you must then go into its interface and access the Add-Ons menu. You can then place a Farm Crop field at the cost of 1 Stick and 1 Rope per field. You can build a total of 3 fields, and each field can have a maximum of 16 crop spaces. This means that 1 Farm can have a maximum of 48 fields total.
Each individual Crop Field can support different crops. You can assign a total of 3 workers to a Farm. Workers at a Farm will need Rakes to till the soil; they'll also need the correct seeds and access to water to make the crops grow. Ideally, you'll want some spoiled food to use as Compost so you can accelerate the growth of the crops.
Certain seeds can only be planted in certain seasons. You'll need to manually change which crops are planted in which fields with the change of each season. Alternatively, you can build a large number of Farms and simply rotate your workers between them or allow certain fields to remain unusable for a season.
Finally, you can do farming entirely on your own without assigning any workers. This isn't as efficient as having your villagers take care of it, but this gives you the option to more precisely control the growth of your crops.
