Animal Well has been out now for four days and more and more secrets continue to be unraveled. One of the latest secrets involves the Groundhog that can be found in the lower right region of the map. When visiting this room on a certain day he will award you with a potion that will give you an additional heart, this process can be repeated until you have double your normal hearts. In this Animal Well Double Health Guide we'll cover the conditions for obtaining this potion and some precautions for PC players.
How To Obtain Double Health in Animal Well?
In order to meet the Groundhog and not have it disappear into its hole you need to visit it on Groundhog day, February 2nd. If you set your PC or Console internal clock to February 2nd of any year and enter this room the Groundhog will be standing outside its burrow holding a golden potion. Interacting with it will allow you to drink a portion of it and gain one additional Gold Heart.
Unlike Blue Hearts these Gold Hearts are refillable and do not go away.
If you alter the date on your PC/Console to February 2nd on a different year and revisit this room the Groundhog will once again be standing outside its burrow. This time the potion will be slightly drained. You can repeat this process up to three more times giving you a grand total of four Gold Hearts. You DO NOT need to close your game while changing the time, just leave the room and come back.
With the four Gold Hearts your permanent Heart count will increase to eight, combine this with the temporary Blue Hearts and you can have a new maximum of twelve Hearts.
PC Player-Specific Information
Before performing this the process of changing the time/date on your system PC players should make sure to close additional browser windows if they're connected to services that check internal time such as Google services.
How was this found?
First proposed on the Animal Well Discord between jake.e and houston as a test idea this method of gaining more hearts was discovered on 5/12 at 5:45pm EST. Shortly after that it was discovered that this was repeatable.
