A certain generation of tabletop RPG fans are fond of Legend of the Five Rings. Commonly abbreviated to L5R, it is a world inspired by East Asia folklore and mythology, with players taking on the role of Samurai from various different Clans serving the Emerald Empire. While L5R did start as a card game, it eventually spawned tie-in novels, board games, and a TTRPG. Now, Asmodee and Edge Studios have announced Adventures in Rokugan, a brand new sourcebook that adapts this world to Dungeons and Dragons Fifth Edition.
What Is Adventures In Rokugan?
According to an official press release, Adventures in Rokugan will adapt the mystical land of L5R using the 5e SRD. The 5e SRD (System Reference Document) is an open-source version of Dungeons and Dragons 5e's core rules. With it, any studio can use the world's most popular RPG's foundation to create their own material such as Monte Cook Games' Path of the Planebreaker or Edge Studios' own Midnight: Legacy of Darkness.
Adventures in Rokugan will be a single 424-page sourcebook. This book will contain key information about the world of the Emerald Empire, the various samurai clans that serve the Hantei Emperor, as well as the various threats to the land's prosperity. This includes political intrigue among the clans themselves, dangerous blood mages corrupting the Empire from within, hordes of ravenous demons, and even the wandering restless spirits of the dead. It will also feature seven setting-appropriate character classes: Shinobi, Bushi, Courtier, Pilgrim, Ritualist, Duelist, and Acolyte.
When Will Adventures In Rokugan Be Available?
Adventures In Rokugan will be available in North America, The UK, Denmark, Finland, Netherlands, Norway, and Sweden on August 5 2022. It will be available in France, Germany, Spain, Italy, and Brazil in Q4 2022. It will be sold at an MSRP of $49.99
