Modiphius Entertainment has announced a new Achtung! Cthulhu starter set. This will allow interested players to try out the tabletop studio's more pulpy adventure take on the Cthulhu mythos, complete with streamlined rules and straightforward action.
The Achtung! Cthulhu starter set announcement
According to a press release from Modiphius Entertainment the Achtung! Cthulhu starter set will immerse players in fast-paced pulp adventure and occult horror. Allowing them to explore ancient ruins, gather forbidden knowledge, and battle cultists, mad scientists, and bizarre alien threats.
The Achtung! Cthulhu starter set will contain a 60-page starter mission. This three-act adventure starts with players in the French town of Dunkirk, and ends with them deep in the heart of an alien hive city. The starter set also contains six premade characters, six maps, 100 tokens, and Limited Edition Elder Sign dice.
Achtung! Cthulhu uses Modiphius' 2d20 RPG system. This award-winning system has fueled many of the studio's RPGs, including Star Trek Adventures, Dune: Adventures in the Imperium, and Dreams & Machines.
Despite it containing cosmic horror elements, Achtung! Cthulhu stands out from its peers in the tabletop space. While Arkham Horror and Call of Cthulhu are more ponderous investigative experiences set in a cosmic horror setting, Achtung! Cthulhu is more action-packed, complete with globe-trotting, fistfights and gunfights.
John Houlihan, line editor at Modiphius said: “The starter set is the perfect entry point for Achtung! Cthulhu’s exciting world of pulp adventure but also brings some fantastic playing aids and accessories for existing fans. With an exclusive dice set, battle board maps and dozens of heroes and villains tokens it really brings this thrilling pulp world to life. Even the box doubles as a mini-GM screen though sadly it’s no protection against the eldritch sanity-challenging horrors which lie within!”
The Achtung! Cthulhu starter set is available for pre-order right now on Modiphius' store page. The sets will be shipped to customers in April.
